I'm a little creeped out by the fact that there is such a rabid fan base for The Goonies. I already mentioned The Ataris' connection. These folks took a trip to Astoria, just to recreate scenes from the movie. There doesn't seem to be the same sort of fanboyism for Kindergarten Cop, Short Circuit or any of the other movies shot in Astoria. Can anybody tell me what the appeal of The Goonies is? I'm too close to it to understand why it would appeal to anybody who wasn't 12 and really excited about a movie being filmed in their town.
