Without going into too much background information, my library hosted a gaggle of third graders today. Part of the program involved the students reciting an "Oath of Reading". To present this part of the program, the teacher said "Since we're in a library, celebrating Dr. Seuss, what do you think this oath will be about." I'm sure she was expecting to hear "Reading!" instead, without even skipping a beat, the children said "War!" This is just so sad and wrong for so many reasons. I felt like I had been punched in the gut.

Happy St. Patrick's Day. You'd never guess it from the folks at work, however, nobody's wearing green! I guess it's hard to get up much enthusiasm on a rainy Monday.

The Tard Blog is really funny. Although it may seem mean spirited at first blush, it is in fact, quite touching.

I saw Miracles, the first time it aired. Then managed to forget all about it until last night. Could it be the next X-files? Skeet Ulrich sure is dreamy.
It was eery that the plot hinged on a terrible circus fire that occured in the 1940's. It was discussed as if something like that would never happen now days. Unfortunately, recent night club disasters have proven them wrong.
